Young Innovator Award

Introducing tomorrow's innovators

young innovator award
Tissue Regeneration & Limb Preservation

We are excited to announce the Young Innovator Award in Tissue Regeneration and Limb Preservation presented by OneGuild, previously known as the Peter Sheehan Diabetes Care Foundation.

Of the 32 million diabetics in the US and 463 million globally, over 25% will develop non-healing chronic ulcerations of the foot, leading to severe pain, infection, and a high rate of amputation. Dr. Peter Sheehan’s vision of transforming the field of patients suffering from diseases associated with complications of diabetes is through next generation scientific innovation involving mechanistic studies that lead to targeted therapies.

The intention of the Young innovator Award is to encourage young scientists – indirectly or directly engaged in the field of tissue regeneration – to exploit this forum for presentation of their studies and interaction with participants who are experts in related fields.

details and requirements
Both, basic science and clinical medicine, including all aspects of tissue regeneration, clinical diagnostics and therapeutics and the research potential for industry advancement, are equally competitive for the award.

Nominees will make a 5-minute poster presentation for the Review Committee via zoom, followed by a 2-minute Q&A (date in May to be announced). The Review Committee will select 5 (five) finalists winners, who will share their innovative science at the 19th Annual WHSI Conference in New York, on June 24-25, 2022.

On Friday, 24 June 2022, during a Lightning Podium Session, each finalist will deliver a 10-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute Q&A.

Please present your abstracts to compete for the Young Innovator Award. The Award Committee will review abstracts and select presentations, which will be scored. Five finalists will be selected based on organization of the presentation, innovation, and feasibility of medical translation to the clinical wound healing field. Both, basic science and clinical medicine, including all aspects of tissue regeneration, clinical diagnostics and therapeutics (wound care, diabetic limb salvage, etc.) and the research potential for industry advancement, are equally competitive for the award.

The WHSI forum is an opportunity for award finalists to present to an audience of experts in various fields, and receive an award certificate and $250 travel award, in recognition of their extraordinary accomplishments. A newsletter featuring the finalists will be published after the competition and the 2022 awardees will be posted at the 2023 Young Innovator Award event.
